Fly My Pretties - Live At Bats (Album 2004)  Description 17-track CD from New Zealand band Fly My Pretties. This musical collaboration put together by Barnaby Weir (Black Seeds, Flash Harry) was performed at Bats Theatre in Wellington over four nights. The line-up includes Sam Scott (The Phoenix Foundation), Toby Laing (Fat Freddy's Drop), Mike Fabulous (Black Seeds), Daniel Weetman (Black Seeds), Nato (Paselode), Brendan Moran (ex-Hasselhoff Experiment) and Age Pryor, with the very able soundman/producer Lee Prebble (Black Seeds, Phoenix Foundation, TrinityRoots) holding it together. The songs themselves are a mixture of old and new, all penned by Weir except for Age Pryor's touching "Singing In My Soul" and Sam Scott's stunning "Quiet Girl". Highlights include Scott's "Quiet Girl", a re-working of the Dub Connection's "All The Goodness", a new track from Weir "Lucky", the storming "Lets Roll", an exceptional indie-pop styled version of the Black Seeds "Turn It Around", and the project's title track (a bittersweet lament on the creative flight from Wellington (and NZ) in search of fame and fortune).
